1). His Creation. Ezekiel 28:12-17
Ezekiel 28:12-17 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
a). His person. Ezekiel 28:12,13

(1). Wise.
(2). Beautiful. Ezekiel 28:17a “…because of thy beauty…”
(3). He exhibits personality. The traits are seen in his –
(a). Intellect. Ephesians 6:11 “…the wiles of the Devil…”
(b). Emotions.
[1]. Pride – Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ‘Undeserved worship’!
[2]. Desire Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
(c). Will. 2 Timothy 2:26 “…who are taken captive by him at his will.”
(d). Conversation. Matthew 4:3-11 The tempting of Jesus in the wilderness.
He is not the personification of evil, he is an evil being!
(4). Powerful Michael, did not dispute with him “…the Lord rebuke thee.”
b). His position. Ezekiel 28:14
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
(1). He was the “annointed cherub”.
(2). He was positioned at the Throne of God.
Remember that cherubs minister at the throne of God.
2). His Crime – Pride. Ezekiel 28:15-17
Ezekiel 28:15-17 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 1 Timothy 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

3). His Character. He can be known by his –
a). Names.
(1). Satan. Hebrew: opponent, adversary. Greek: accuser
(2). Devil. Greek: Slanderer, false accuser
(3). Prince of the power of the air. Ephesians 2:2
(4). Prince of this world. John 14:30 “the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me”
(5). The god of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4
– and also Beelzebub (the lord of the flies), the wicked one, dragon…
b). Personality.
(a). He is the author of sin.
(b). He is full of lust, murder, and lies.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
4). His Contest – war against God.
a). He originated sin in himself.
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
b). He introduced sin –
(1). To angelic beings. Matthew 25:41 “…the devil and his angels.”
Revelation 12:7 “…the dragon fought, and his angels.”
(2). To human beings. Genesis 3:1-6
c). He accuses believers. Job 1,2
Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
d). He tempts to disobience. 1 Chronicles 21:1,8
1 Chronicles 21:1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.
1 Chronicles 21:8 And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
e). He holds men in bondage.
2 Timothy 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
f). He attempts to pollute the work of God. Matthew 13:39 ‘wheat and tares’
g). He deceives. 2 Cor 11:14 He comes an a ‘angel of light’; 2 Cor 11:3
h). He blinds the minds of the lost to keep them from being saved.
2 Corinthians 4:3,4; refer to Luke 8:12
i). He oppresses people with sickness and mental oppression.
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
5). His conqueror
a). The Lord Jesus conquered Satan, sin and death on the cross.
John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
John 16:11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Note: He introduced death, separation from God.
b). The Lord Jesus will cast him out of heaven . Revelation 12:7-10
c). The Lord Jesus will chain him for a 1000 year period. Revelation 20:1,2
6). His consequent punishment.
a). His confession. Philippians 2:10.
Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

b). His confinement.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Satan, the Devil, the Evil One – how do we protect ourselves from him?
The Lord gave us instructions in His Word. –
Be saved, a child of God. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Be right with the Lord and with one another 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Ephesians 4:25-27 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.
Be aware of his methods 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Be prepared – Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
